First hand review of the Predator 1080 Pure Chalk
The game of pool is very technical and I treat it as such. I have to be precise with every move and keep a focused mind. I only use the best equipment so that I always have that slight edge. Working with substandard equipment throws me off my game. This alone is sometimes all that my opponent needs to tip me off balance and leave me with that bitter taste of defeat.
That is why we at Cue News seek out the best products and provide our honest feedback to our readers. We want you to be able to make the best decisions to positively impact your game.
This is Rhys from Cue News and this article is my review of the Predator 1080 Pure Chalk.
At the first instance when I took up this chalk, I felt quality. The octagonal shape provides comfort and increases the symmetry of my application to the cue tip. There are no hills and valleys situation so it doesn’t seem like I’m playing favoritism with which parts of the tip gets the most chalk.
The special formulation of the chalk caters to a longer on-tip chalk life which reduces the required frequency of application. I am better able to focus on the upcoming shot and on my opponents’ style of play, rather than reaching for and applying chalk.
With the Predator 1080 Pure Chalk on the tip of my cue, I am confident with my spins, angles, masse and other trick shots. The probability of a miscue is almost non-existent. The chalk sits firmly and uniformly on the tip of my cue stick. This provides the right amount of friction so that the ball is always hit with firmness and accuracy.
You will get great value and quality for your money with this chalk. Other brands of chalk like Master and Triangle are sold in a box of twelve. You can get a pack of five Predator 1080 Pure Chalk at most cue sports retailers and clubs for approximately $15.
here are however some short falls. The chalk transfers easily from the cue tip to the cue ball. This leaves an accumulation of spots on the ball. It does come off easily but who has the time to be cleaning the cue ball? The fact that blue is the only available color also proves to be an inconvenience. The blue dust stands out on tables of different colors and tends to leave smudges all over the cloth.
All in all, I have seen an improvement in my game since I started using the Predator 1080 Pure Chalk. The confidence of being sure that I won’t get a slip does go a far way.
I give this product a 4 out of 5 stars rating. It is a very good quality product but you will still be faced with a decision based on the few limitations.
